GOOD HYGIENE TIPS

Simple hand washing is an effective way to help prevent the spread of threadworm. Following this hand washing technique ensures really clean, Fred-free hands!

1. Squeeze some liquid soap into the palm of your hand (the size of a 10p piece) and hold your hands under running water

2. Rub your palms together so that the soap lathers

3. Spread the lather all over your hands, including the tops of the hands and between the fingers

4. Pay special attention to the tips of the fingers and under the fingernails

5. Don’t forget your thumbs as well!

6. Rinse well and dry hands thoroughly with a clean towel

Encourage children to always wash their hands:

  • Before eating or handling food
  • After visiting the toilet
  • After touching animals
  • Whenever hands look dirty
